About Us

Welcome to The Kalona Historical Village, a captivating history museum nestled in Kalona, IA. Our museum showcases the rich heritage of Amish, Mennonite, and Kalona history, inviting visitors to dive into the past and uncover the stories that shaped our communities. With 12 historical buildings and 4 museums, we bring history to life through immersive experiences and engaging displays. In addition to our exhibits, we offer private events, private tours, countryside experiences, and a charming gift shop where you can take home a piece of history. First things first: we were there in January. The temperature was very cold and the majority of the buildings were not heated. The main museum was much more modern with ample heat and clean restrooms. It was very cold walking between buildings, but we had the place to ourselves. We enjoyed spending time looking around. The main (entry) building has a lovely gift shop and a room with many quilts and other displays.
